Andru Anderson created Kodiakglass around 2000 after he took a bead making class in Santa Cruz, California. He has since moved to Waco, Texas and still creates beads and woman's jewelry. He also works with various metals and techniques to make one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Why do I do this type of art? What interests me in glass is the ability to take a solid rod, melt that rod in a 2000+ degree Fahrenheit tiorch an then use crude tools and gravity to shape the bead.Whenever I put glass to a flame, I become mesmerized and the experience is unlike any I've had before. In addition, the natural minerals and other materials used to color the glass often interacts with each other in an unexpected way. |
